This is February, the month of LOVE. I want to challenge you to think of God’s love for us and what that really means. Everyday God blesses us because he loves us. So much that he gave his only son to suffer and die for us. Many of us do not even want to give our time or money to demonstrate our love for another. We have been studying about how to become stronger in various areas of our Christian walk during Sunday School. Our mission trip in December has been an anchor for us in discussing how we can serve and love others as God would have us do. A key factor in being able to serve as Christ did is LOVE. I am not talking about the commercialized version of love but true love as the Lord intended. Love that is kind, helpful, selfless, giving, forgiving, understanding, compassionate, and that moves us to action is the love we should all strive to have. Have you shown the people closest to you that you love them? How have you been an example of God’s unconditional love? If you have shown your family and loved ones God’s love then how can you demonstrate God’s love to those you are not close to? God calls us all to love one another; including our enemies and those that are not easy to love. This can be a tough thing for many of us to do. Love includes loving your parents and obeying them. It also means parents must love and forgive their children. For parents it goes further in bringing them up in the word of the Lord; being a Godly example and sometimes making tough decisions. I would like to challenge you to take closer look at your love practices; are they aligned with God’s love? Do you need help learning how to love others? What will you do differently today and continue to do to improve your love?
